1. PR Tenure Track Position
The Department of Communication Studies at the State University of New York at Oswego invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor in Public Relations.
Review Date: Review of applications will begin January 2, 2012 and will continue until the position is filled.
Salary: Commensurate with rank and experience
Date of Appointment: August 2012
Description of Responsibilities: Candidates will teach a variety of courses including survey of public relations, public relations research, public relations writing, public relations cases, public relations campaigns and strategies. Candidates also will engage in scholarly research and/or creative activity. Active involvement in advisement and department service is expected.
Required Qualifications: Master’s degree in public relations, communication or related field.
Preferred Qualifications: Ph.D. in communication or related field preferred. APR (Accreditation in Public Relations) or professional experience. University-level teaching experience. Evidence of communication-related scholarship and/or creative activity. Ability to teach courses dealing with social media, public relations ethics and international public relations.

The department offers majors in public relations, broadcasting, communication studies, and journalism. We also offer an online degree completion program in Broadcasting and Mass Communication and a graduate certificate program in Integrated Media. Description of Responsibilities: The successful candidate will develop and teach strategic/business communication course(s) in consultation with the School of Business. Teaching responsibilities will include business writing & speaking, and public relations courses as needed. Active involvement in advisement and department service is expected.
Required Qualifications: Master’s degree in business, communication, or related field, evidence of successful college teaching experience, and ability to teach public speaking.
Preferred Qualifications: Ph.D. in business, communication, or related field. Professional experience in marketing and/or public relations. Ability to teach courses in critical thinking; organizational communication; interpersonal communication in organizations; and leadership and team communication.
