Associate or Full Professor – Journalism/Public Relations

The School of Media and Communication at Bowling Green State University invites applicants for a tenured (associate or full) professor. Candidates should have an established reputation as a researcher and will contribute to the school’s doctoral program in Media and Communication. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in journalism or public relations as well as graduate courses in their areas of expertise. The successful candidate will serve as the undergraduate program coordinator for the journalism/public relations major, providing oversight of academic programs in Journalism/Public Relations and overseeing ACEJMC accreditation and other activities associated with developing and delivering innovative programs in journalism and public relations that prepare students for successful careers Essential Duties, Tasks and Responsibilities:• Teach undergraduate journalism, public relations, advertising or media courses• Teach graduate courses in media and communication• Engage in a successful program of research that yields scholarly publications• Provide oversight to the journalism and public relations major • Guide accreditation and assessment of the journalism program• Provide additional service to the school, university, college and discipline Minimum Qualifications & Salary:• A terminal degree (e.g., Ph.D.) in Journalism/Mass Communication/Public Relations or closely related field such as advertising, communication or media • College-level teaching experience as instructor of record in journalism, public relations, advertising or a related area (e.g., video production, digital media)• Teaching effectiveness and performance that meet the requirements of a tenured associate or full professor. Preferred Qualifications:
• Graduate level teaching experience in face-to-face environments
• Teaching and research interests in Sport/Entertainment Journalism or Public Relations
• Professional experience in emergent media such as data-driven journalism, social network analysis, interactive journalism, web development or digital story-telling
• Experience as faculty member or administrator with an ACEJMC accredited unit
• Experience in curriculum assessment Additional Information:
