Call for Nominations: The 2016 KACA Distinguished Service Award

 

The Distinguished Service Award honors an exceptional KACA member for his or her outstanding and significant contributions to the KACA’s founding, development, and advancement, and to the Korean community in the field of communication. Founded in 1978, there have now been several generations of scholars who have contributed to establishing and maintaining the position of the KACA as a powerhouse of researchers, teachers, and students interested in Korea and the U.S. in the field of communication. Following in this tradition, the KACA seeks to recognize adistinguished member for 2016, and the Awards Committee hereby solicits nominations.

 

Award: The recipient will receive a plaque engraved with his or her name and signed by the President of the KACA. The recipient of the award will be recognized during the KACA meeting at NCA and in KACA publications.

 

Eligibility: Nominees need not be current KACA members. Nominees need not be currently affiliated with an academic institution, and self-nominations are also permitted. We would like to recognize someone who made a significant contribution to KACA at some point during the past 38 years of its existence.

 

Nomination Procedure:

1   Nominations can be made by a KACA member or a non-member; nominations may come from a faculty member or a graduate student. A nominating letter describing the nominee’s qualifications and contributions to the KACA, as well as the nominee’s current CV, must be submitted.

2   Self-nominations are also welcome and encouraged. A letter describing the nominee’s qualifications and contributions to KACA, as well as a current CV, must to be submitted.

3   All nomination materials must be submitted via email to the KACA Secretary, Joonghwa Lee, atjoonghwa.lee@und.edu.

 

Selection criteria include the following: Contributions to the Korean community in the field of communication by serving as a KACA officer (President, Vice President, Secretary, Conference Board Member, Student Representative, etc.), a KACA session discussant, member of a KACA session panel, and any other involvement related to KACA service. Preference may be given to those who have either served longer or have contributed more actively than others.

 

Application Deadline: The KACA Distinguished Service Award is given annually, and the deadline for nominations this year isSeptember 27, 2016.

 

Announcement: The award recipient will be announced in late July, and recognized at the KACA meeting held at the 2016 NCA Annual Convention. Applications will be reviewed by the KACA Executive Committee.
