Call for 2017 ICA Papers and Ad-hoc Reviewers

Korean American Communication Association (KACA) will hold two competitive paper sessions with Chinese Communication Association (CCA) at the annual conference of the International Communication Association in San Diego, California, May 25-29, 2017. We invite you to submit your completed papers broadly related to any of the topics as explained below:

Research Paper Topics:

Research endeavors relating to Korean or Asian-related communication themes, including but not limited to the following areas: intercultural- or cross-cultural studies; communication technologies; advertising, public relations, and campaigns; journalism; political communication; science, health, environment, and risk communication; and circulation of Korean or Asian cultural products in the world. We welcome studies reflecting the ICA conference theme of “Interventions: Communication Research and Practice” in the context of Korean or Asian society.  KACA welcome studies reflecting the topics using any theoretical and/or methodological approaches in any communication discipline.

Format:

Author(s) should submit an original and completed paper in PDF or Word format. Completed papers are limited to 25 pages in length (double-spaced excluding references and tables, with 12-point size and 1 inch margins). A brief abstract (less than 200 words) is required. Three anonymous reviewers will evaluate the submitted manuscripts in terms of quality of theory development, the methods employed and significance of the findings.

Paper Submission:

Two separate files are required for the paper submission: (1) Cover page; and (2) Manuscript.

(1) Cover Page

A separate cover page is required. The cover page should include the following information:

  • Paper title
  • Key words
  • All author names, affiliations, and departments listed in the order as they appear on the paper
  • Corresponding author and his/her contact information including e-mail address and phone number if different from the first author.

(2) Manuscript

To facilitate the blind review process, all author-identifying information should be removed from the submitted document.

Each manuscript that receives the highest evaluation scores for the faculty and student paper competitions respectively will be selected as the Best KACA Faculty and Student Paper. The authors will receive a cash prize and an award certificate. Moreover, the accepted papers will be considered for publication in a special issue of a selected journal (TBD).

Please send your completed papers to Dr. Eyun-Jung Ki at ki@apr.ua.edu by midnight (EST), Tuesday, November 15.

You do not need to be a member of the ICA or the KACA to submit a paper for the session. However, if your paper is accepted for the session, you will need to (1) register for the conference and (2) attend the conference to present your paper. Detailed information about the conference can be found at the ICA home page at http://www.icahdq.org.

Reviewers are needed for KACA paper competition!!!!

For those who do not plan to submit a paper to KACA sessions this year, please consider reviewing the manuscripts as a reviewer for KACA. Please send an email to Dr. Eyun-Jung Ki at ki@apr.ua.edu, indicating your preferred methodology and areas of expertise. Your service as a KACA reviewer is greatly appreciated.
