The 2016 KACA Outstanding Graduate Student Award

The Outstanding Graduate Student Award honors an exceptional graduate student for his or her significant accomplishments in scholarship, as exemplified by publications, conference presentations, awards, and other academic recognition. This annual award acknowledges the recipient’s recent scholarly contributions to the field of communication, broadly defined.

Award: The winner will receive a plaque and a monetary award in the amount of $200. Past and current KACA Outstanding Graduate Student Award recipients will be recognized in KACA publications.

 

Eligibility: Nominees must be enrolled in a graduate program at a North American university at the time of application and must NOT have completed all degree requirements by December, 2016. In addition, the recipient must be a student member of the KACA or have the intention of joining the KACA.

 

Nomination Procedure:

  1. Nominations can be made by a faculty member or a graduate student. Nominators do not have to be members of the KACA. A nominating letter describing the academic qualifications and scholarly achievements of the graduate student nominee and a current CV for the nominee must be submitted.
  2. Self-nominations are also welcome and encouraged. A letter describing the nominee’s academic qualifications and scholarly achievements and a current CV must be submitted.
  3. All nomination materials must be submitted via email to the KACA Secretary, Dr. Joonghwa Lee, atjoonghwa.lee@und.edu.

 

Selection criteria include the following: academic achievement, conference presentations, awards, publications, and other evidence of excellent research during the two calendar years preceding the award (January 1, 2015 – July 5, 2016). Preference may be given to students whose research concerns Korea and/or who are active KACA members in good standing.

 

Application deadline: The KACA Outstanding Graduate Student Award is given annually, and this year’s deadline is July 5, 2016.

 

Announcement: The award recipient will be announced in late July, and will be recognized at the KACA meeting held at the 2016 AEJMC Annual Convention. Applications will be reviewed by the KACA Executive Committee.
